Just when we though the worst of COVID was over and things were a little more normal (albeit with high inflation) mother nature throws us more curve balls here in NZ... Volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity are life.

Leaders and teams need to anticipate that plans will not proceed as expected and plan for that! The following will help navigate a VUCA world:

· clear purpose

· collaboration

· continual learning

· agility

· resilience

… and leadership and team coaching can help develop these characteristics.

If you would like to know more about navigating VUCA please get in touch. And take care out there!

A year ago, almost to the day, I put pen to paper (or finger to keyboard) and started writing. And today, I can proudly say that my book "Team Coaching for Organisational Development" is officially "in production" (in production = final editing, typesetting and formatting).

The apples are relevant... and a hint of things to come...

Just goes to show that genuine belief and hard work can lead to positive outcomes. Psychologists refer to this as "striving".

If you or your team would like to know more about the benefits of "striving", or you would like to know more about my book, please get in touch. I would love to hear from you.

“Pick two animals from the pile below. One that represents you at your best and one at your worst. Then share why you made those choices with the team.”

I begin working with a new team this week – new to me and also knew to each other. This will be our opening exercise to encourage people to talk about themselves and show vulnerability. A little childish – yes! Fun – yes! Effective – yes! Building psychological safety – getting there!

(BTW my animals are giraffe and sheep. At my best I’m objective and can see how things fit together at a high level. At my worst I’m quiet and retreat.)

If you or your team would like to open up more and encourage psychological safety please get in touch. There are many ways to encourage psychological safety in a team.
