I promised myself some time under a tree to shake off 2022 and contemplate 2023… I was partially successful – here is my tree(s) (before the rains came)! But 2023 plans are still a bit of a question mark. I’m not beating myself up though, I just wasn't in the right headspace and I’ll try again in a few weeks.

The same thing could be happening to you or your team. Just because you have scheduled time in your diary to reflect or plan, doesn’t mean you’ll be in the right frame of mind. Something that might help is “priming” or easing into the subject. This means connecting or easing into thinking with something light and/or fun. For example, I might draw what 2023 looks like for me before identifying particular goals and work steams.

If you would like to talk through was of getting yourself or your team “primed” please get in touch. Best wishes for 2023!

My fusion Christmas Tree - Pohutukawa (NZ native tree that flowers at this time of the year) Bonsai with fairy lights. I think it sums up my eclecticness well 😊.

Merry Christmas to my clients, colleagues, and supporters. And a special should out to all who helped with my book – it’s been a huge project and it would not have happened without you – love you guys!

And if you don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you have the opportunity for a break and quality time.

I am looking forward to sitting under a tree with a cold drink for a few weeks. (A tree much bigger than this one btw). See you in 2023!

I have finished my book (well I think I have anyway – the publishers might have a different view 😊). Just paperwork and admin to do now. I think I have done well on this project – given that I don’t enjoy writing and it’s 90,000 words!

I am quite good at celebrating professional milestones – and flowers or mini-breaks are my go-to. However, some of my clients tell me they don’t know how to celebrate professional wins, or, feel guilty when they do. If you fit into this category beware of how your personal views might impact the teams you lead or are part of. It is important for teams to pause, take stock of successes (and challenges) and celebrate together in a meaningful way.

If you, or your team, would like to learn how to celebrate more, please get in touch. It’s the perfect time of the year to acknowledge how far you have come.
