I was at the beach yesterday thinking about where I was this time last year... standing in the snow!
It struck me that we put far too much pressure on New Year's to be the official time for reflection. Who made that rule anyway? Why not 5 July?
Looking back over the last 12 months, I don't have any dramatic headlines to share.
🏔️ I didn't climb Everest.
🚀 I didn't invent the next billion-dollar app.
But I did...
🌱 Study with Peter Hawkins, and colleagues, and deepen my team coaching and systemic practice.
🧠 Dive into coaching constellations and vertical adult development.
🤝 Spend more time co-coaching and loved it.
🏗️ Work with teams in industries I'd never coached before.
☕ Meet brilliant people who challenged, inspired and stretched my thinking.
None of those things make particularly exciting social media headlines.
But together they've made me a much better team and systemic coach than I was this time last year.
I think we often underestimate the value of quiet growth because it doesn't come with confetti.
Forget waiting until New Year's. Ask yourself, "How have I grown?"
You might discover you've travelled much further than you realised - even if, from the outside, it might look as though little has changed… 🎉
