What an incredible time for Auckland - the City Rail Link is open.Â
I live across the road from the Maungawhau Station and the tunnel runs underneath my house. So, from the very beginning, I’ve quite literally felt the CRL being built. 😄
A few lives ago, when I worked at Auckland Council, I was close to the Public Art team, involved in bringing art and creativity into the project and the city.
More recently I’ve had the privilege of working with teams from Auckland Transport involved in the project directly, its delivery and now BAU - helping them all add value.
When I walk through the stations now I see something much more than tunnels, trains, impressive infrastructure and amazing art. I think about the thousands of people, teams, ideas and collaborations over many years that have brought this extraordinary project to life.
I also think of the hundreds of thousands (most likely millions) of people that will use this infrastructure over years to come. CRL will transform Tamaki Makaurau Auckland and many people’s lives – including mine.Â
Congratulations all involved – what a legacy!
